Steven Johnston has over 20 years of civil litigation experience in Colorado state and federal courts. He focuses on medical malpractice and defends medical and dental providers along with hospitals and other healthcare facilities.

Outside of his healthcare practice, Mr. Johnston has extensive experience with insurance defense, premises liability, and business related matters. He has also managed mass tort litigation involving pharmaceutical product liability and environmental contamination.

Collin D. Sayles

Associate

Collin Sayles represents clients facing litigation involving premises liability, product liability, transportation, and long term care insurance matters throughout Idaho.

Prior to joining Hall & Evans, Mr. Sayles was a Deputy Public Defender for Ada County, Idaho. During his time as a public defender, he handled all types of criminal cases and tried over 20 jury trials. Mr. Sayles litigated hundreds of cases involving misdemeanors and felonies, litigating from pre-trial motions, through trial, and post-judgment appeals.

While attending the University of Idaho College of Law, Mr. Sayles was a legal intern for a federal criminal defense firm in Boise, Idaho and was Managing Editor of the Idaho Law Review.

April D. Moore

Counsel

April Moore is a trial attorney with over eighteen years of experience in the areas of personal injury, product liability, construction and design, insurance coverage, and employment law. Her experience includes all phases of civil litigation from pre-litigated matters to trials, mediations, arbitrations, and appeals in state and federal courts.

Ms. Moore enjoys the complexities of litigation, and she strives to provide high-quality, efficient representation.  She has significant experience with high exposure, tort and commercial lawsuits, including cases involving allegations of wrongful death, brain injury, and incapacitating traumatic injuries. As lead counsel, Ms. Moore has achieved defense verdicts, prevailed on appeals, and obtained summary judgments for her clients on several occasions.

Ryan C. Addis

Senior Associate

Ryan Addis’ practice focuses on the defense of premises liability, product liability, healthcare, construction, and public entity matters. He represents municipalities, contractors, and businesses throughout all phases of litigation in both state and federal court.

Mr. Addis also serves as a City Attorney for the City of Columbus, Montana, where he prosecutes misdemeanors and provides counsel to City officials regarding land use, personnel, zoning, contracts, and other City-related matters.  Previously, Mr. Addis was a Deputy County Attorney at the Yellowstone and Stillwater County Attorney’s Offices, where he prosecuted felony and misdemeanor crimes.

While earning his law degree at the University of Cincinnati College of Law, Mr. Addis was a part of an independent research project on the Supreme Court’s interpretive rule of mens rea of federal court statutes. Mr. Addis also was an Instructor at The Law and Leadership Institute, where he prepared students for mock trials and instructed on a wide variety of legal issues.

Sean T. Carlson

Associate

Sean Carlson’s practice focuses on defending litigation involving premises liability, transportation, construction defect, uninsured/underinsured motorist claims, property damage, and allegations of insurance bad faith in federal and state courts throughout Colorado.

Prior to joining Hall & Evans, Mr. Carlson practiced insurance defense at a small Denver area firm, where he gained a substantial amount of experience in insurance bad faith litigation. Mr. Carlson was also a Law Clerk for the Honorable Michael A. MacDonald with the Fourth Judicial District of Alaska.  While attending Washington University School of Law, he was a recipient of the William H. Webster Society Scholarship and the Wiley Rutledge Moot Court Competition Golden Quill Award for Best Appellant’s Brief. Mr. Carlson was also a student attorney for the Colorado State Public Defender’s Office while in law school.
