Meghan Sheridan was a panelist at the National Ski Areas Association’s (NSAA) Fall Education Seminar at the Snowbasin Resort in Utah on October 12th. The Seminar was an all-day deep dive on legal topics, and attendees included ski resort operators in Utah and nearby regional resorts.
Meghan was a panelist on four panels that covered various aspects of risk management and legal considerations for ski resorts and recreational facilities. The morning sessions discussed the importance of smart operational strategies in the face of high jury verdicts, state specific ski statutes, and releases and waivers of liability. The afternoon sessions explored regional trends and operational considerations arising from recent trials and claims along with unique risk management challenges in resort operations, such as after-hours activities, investigations, workplace safety, skier behavior, and group events.
