Benton Barton of Hall & Evans’ Construction & Design Practice Group will be speaking at the sixth annual Risk Control Seminar for Architects, Engineers, and Environmental Professionals at the Coors Field Events Center on Wednesday, August 18th, 2021. Benton’s session is titled “CLAIM is a Five Letter Word: What Happens When It Happens to You?” It’s been said that there are two types of design professionals—those that have been sued and those that will be sued. Benton’s presentation will discuss common sources of claims against design firms, what can be done to try to prevent them from affecting firms, and what happens and where to turn when there is a claim. The morning seminar will also feature an interactive presentation by national insurance and risk control consultant Tim Corbett of SmartRisk, discussing “COVID-19 Reopening, Risk and Profitability.”
The seminar was first conceived in 2014 and is hosted by Rick Van Oppen of the specialty broker Van Oppen & Co. 2, and is also supported by Vertex Engineering, Admiral Insurance Group, and RLI Design Professionals. Following the seminar, we will enjoy food, drinks, and the Colorado Rockies v. San Diego Padres ballgame in the Coors Field Home Plate Suite. Link for additional information and registration.
