Brooke Churchman was recently a panelist for ALFA International’s Gig Economy Regional Seminar in San Francisco, California. The Regional Seminar provided an opportunity for industry leaders to discuss the unique challenges facing the gig economy and strategies to overcome the influx of lawsuits.
Brooke’s panel titled, “Enforcing and Building Case Law Through Arbitration,” discussed aspects of the arbitration process, including interpretations of the scope of the agreements and the extension of arbitration provisions to non-signatories. Brooke, along with in-house counsel for two gig economy style companies, highlighted efforts to build positive case law in challenging jurisdictions, which will continue to shape aspects of this ever-changing space for the greater benefit of the industry.
